About the Symposium

An international academic meeting focused on scientific interaction, interdisciplinary dialogue and cultural memory.

The Symposium titled “Dede Korkut in the Eurasian Cultural Geography: Common Memory and Shared Future” is an international academic event that aims to bring together researchers and scholars conducting studies in the field of Turkic Studies within the broader domain of social sciences. The symposium provides a comprehensive scholarly platform for the presentation and discussion of current research addressing the linguistic, historical, cultural, artistic, philosophical, literary, sociological, religious, economic, political, and international dimensions of the Turkic World within the broader Eurasian context.

Structured around the Dede Korkut narrative tradition, one of the most significant symbols of the shared cultural heritage of the Turkic World, this scientific gathering seeks to examine this heritage through an interdisciplinary perspective and to evaluate the cultural and academic accumulation of the Turkic World within a systematic framework.

The symposium, to be hosted by Bayburt University between July 7-10, 2026, will bring together academics from Türkiye and other countries to present multidimensional research on Eurasia and the Turkic World. Participants will have the opportunity to deliver their presentations either in person or online, thereby ensuring an inclusive and accessible academic environment.

In this context, the "Dede Korkut in the Eurasian Cultural Geography: Common Memory and Shared Future Symposium" stands as a significant international academic platform that fosters knowledge production and exchange, strengthens interdisciplinary collaboration, and contributes institutionally to the advancement of Turkic Studies by bringing together scholars who examine the historical and cultural heritage of Eurasia and the Turkic World from a scientific perspective.
